We hired Frank from Amalgam to come in for a corporate self-defense event. The session was very informative, interactive, and a lot of fun!! We all loved that there was both a presentation and a drill training portion to the session. Frank was very well prepared and made the process of coordinating the event very easy. He is great with communication and was available as we planned the event for any questions! I would absolutely recommend Amalgam (and Frank!) for any events and for private classes.

“I wanted to drop you a line and let you know that your studio's services have been crucial to me since I've been at school this semester. A few weeks in, I woke up at 2am to a huge crashing sound coming from our living room. My roommates are not the most street-smart of people, and so I knew that none of them would go to investigate. Had I not had my knife, I probably would have been too scared to go myself. Even though I know I'm not some sort of self-defense master, having something solid in my hand and having practiced some techniques with you gave me that little boost of confidence to go investigate. Even if the few hours that I spent with the studio didn't turn me into a martial arts master, they were invaluable in showing me that I have what it takes to defend myself, and that confidence boost is absolutely key in a scary situation. So thankful for Amalgam Martial Academy!! My daughter was stabbed 17 times, beaten and raped in our Willowbrook home. She survived only because she defended herself and escaped to safety. If it had been me that day, I don't think I would have made it out alive. I walked around with unbearable fear. Two months after the crime, at the age of 54 I walked into class. I am still training and now on my 6th belt!! I don't have that same fear that haunted me. It truly is one of the best things I have done in my life!! Amalgam is an incredible place to learn martial arts beyond what you normally find from your standard martial arts studio. Head Instructor Frank Delo has a very deep understanding of the martial arts he teaches, but is always open to new material for his students.
